Academics, Curriculum, and Learning
At MCP, we believe students learn best when they are supported in their natural learning styles – and small classes are the best way to make that happen. Small classes allow for both academic and social collaboration, and also for personalization of content. Students are grouped by abilities and needs, with classes often a mixture of grade levels. Class assignments can be individualized, so students may complete their work at different levels and in different ways. Our school days start at 8:30am, and finish at 3:40pm. Homework Club follows Monday-Thursdays until 5pm.
We adhere to a traditional college preparatory curriculum, and offer UC approved classes. Our small size allows flexibility in scheduling to facilitate both students’ overall requirements as well as their interests.
Because we’re small, classes we can vary from semester to semester, as each student’s graduating requirements and personal goals are reviewed and served. Middle school classes are created to prepare students for success in high school. We provide introductory classes like Spanish, which lead into high school classes that are more academic and in-depth. Our students are not bound to classes by age or grade, and our aim is to make learning exciting.
Class Size & Classes Available
MCP classes are small and personalized: 5-8 students in core classes, and some classes with fewer. Our limit is 12 to a class, but only for classes that benefit from more students, such as PE classes. Our goal is to balance the benefit of group dynamics and collaboration with the need to individualize content for our students. For those who may need one-on-one work in a special area, we offer tutoring in-house, and we can create a plan to utilize local experts for additional content opportunities.

The Bottom Line:
